Prince of Peckham
The Prince of Peckham is a pub in, you guessed it, Peckham, that’s been brought back to life! You can now have a beer with a side of Caribbean-inspired food.
13th May 2019 marked the pub’s second birthday and they had a week of events, in true birthday fashion! I decided to attend the “White Men Can’t Jerk Sound System” event. You can’t go wrong with music, drink and food! When we arrived, the DJ was playing old school music from the 90s and early 00s, which I loved! The drinks were flowing, the customers were clearly enjoying the atmosphere and the staff were attentive. Straight away we would have a good time.
We started the night off with a Montego Wray drink, which is a play on Montego Bay and the Jamaican Wray & Nephew’s Rum. The drinks arrived quickly and exceeded expectations. It was sweet with the nice kick of rum! We were starving so we had the famous wings dipped in honey chilli glaze, chilli mac & cheese, as well as the Jerk Chicken Bun served with Jerk Fries for the main.
The above is definitely my go-to meal and I would definitely recommend that you try it with your favourite beer or if you’re feeling adventurous, try the rum punch. The White Men Can’t Jerk team prepared all of the food and did a great job of entertaining us via the DJ.
Overall, it was a great night! The staff were attentive, despite them having a busy night. We didn’t have to wait very long for our food and when it did arrive, the portions were generous. Also, the DJ was really good and maintained a good vibe throughout the night. Everything from house music to old school reggae favourites were played and the other customers clearly loved it as much as us. Prince of Peckham is definitely a spot you should check out, if you haven’t already!
